The video editor lets you polish screen recordings into professional product demo videos. It provides a canvas-based preview, a timeline for arranging and trimming clips, tools for adding zoom effects and annotations, and AI voiceover generation.

Editor layout

Canvas

Shows a real-time preview of the current frame in your video composition.

Timeline

Displays all clips and audio tracks arranged over time. Drag, trim, and reorder directly on the timeline.
The right-side menu gives you access to:
  • Settings — video-level configuration
  • Clips — manage the clips in your composition
  • Subtitles — add and configure captions

Working with clips

A clip is a video segment in your composition. Your screen recording is automatically split into clips when you create a video demo.

Trim a clip

1

Select a clip on the timeline

Click the clip you want to trim. It becomes highlighted.
2

Drag the clip edge

Hover over the left or right edge of the clip until the cursor changes to a resize handle. Drag inward to trim the clip.
3

Preview the result

Move the playhead to the trimmed section and press Play to confirm the edit looks correct.

Reorder clips

Drag a clip left or right on the timeline to change its position in the video sequence.

Delete a clip

Select a clip on the timeline and press Delete. The clip is removed from the composition.
Deleting a clip is permanent and cannot be undone once you save. Use the undo shortcut (Ctrl+Z) immediately after deleting if you change your mind.

Adding zoom effects

Zoom effects draw the viewer’s attention to a specific part of the screen.
1

Select a clip

Click the clip where you want to add a zoom.
2

Open clip settings

In the right-side menu, click the Settings button.
3

Add a zoom keyframe

Use the zoom controls to set the zoom level and focal point at a specific timestamp on the timeline. Layerpath animates a smooth zoom between keyframes.

AI voiceover

AI voiceover generates a narration track from a script you provide. Layerpath sends your script to an AI voice model and adds the resulting audio to your video.

Generate voiceover

1

Open the voiceover panel

Click Settings in the right-side editor menu, then select the Voiceover tab.
2

Write or paste your script

Enter the narration text for your video. Each sentence maps to a segment of your recording.
3

Choose a voice

Select from the available AI voices. Voice options vary by workspace plan.
4

Generate

Click Generate voiceover. Layerpath creates the audio and places it on the audio track in the timeline.
You can set a default AI voice for your entire workspace in Settings → Brandkit → Voiceover settings. This pre-fills the voice selection when generating voiceover for any video.

Replace voiceover

To replace an existing voiceover, edit your script and click Generate voiceover again. The previous audio track is replaced.
